Counterfeiting products (medicine) are on the rise in the US and around the globe. They are dangerous by their very nature because they are not produced under safe manufacturing conditions and they are not inspected by the regulatory authorities. It is impossible for a consumer to know what ingredients these products actually contain. Patients who unknowingly purchase counterfeit medicines are denied the therapeutic benefit of what the doctors prescribed. In fact, they may contain ingredients that are actually harmful.

While the US is fortunate to have a pharmaceutical distribution system that is recognized to be among the safest in the world there are still some factors contributing to the rise in criminal counterfeiting activity. These are the result of under-regulated wholesalers and repackage’s, Internet pharmacies, advances in technology, increased importation of medicines from countries that do not have the standard US safeguards. We at NORAM are concerned about this rising trend. Therefore, we make it our highest priority to secure the integrity of our pharmaceutical supply chair which insures that every patient who purchases a medicine receives the authentic product, one that is both safe and effective.
